Connect Slack to a Sanka workspace and view Slack messages in Sanka inboxes.
Last updated: May 5, 2026
This guide walks you through connecting Slack to a Sanka workspace and checking that Slack messages can appear in Sanka inboxes. Slack is connected at the workspace level, not from personal account settings.
Guide overview
Sanka for Slack brings Slack conversations into Sanka inboxes so teams can track work that starts in Slack. Direct messages are handled as private inbox items for the matching Sanka user. Shared channel activity can be routed to the workspace inbox when your team chooses to make that channel visible.Public channel content is not meant to be exposed automatically. Decide which channels should be shared with the workspace before using Slack messages as part of team workflows.
Prepare access
Before you start, make sure you have:
Access to the target Sanka workspace
Permission to manage workspace integrations in Sanka
Permission to add apps in Slack
Access to the Slack workspace you want to connect
Matching email addresses between Sanka users and Slack users
If your Slack workspace restricts app installs, ask a Slack admin to approve the Sanka app.
Connect Slack
Sign in to Sanka and open the target workspace.
Open Workspace, then choose Integrations.
Click New or the button for adding an integration.
Choose Slack from the integration list.
When Slack opens, confirm the Slack workspace you want to connect.
Review the requested permissions and approve the connection.
Return to Sanka and confirm that Slack appears as a connected integration.
i
If you use multiple Sanka workspaces, Slack connects to the Sanka workspace that is currently open. Repeat the setup from another Sanka workspace if you want to connect Slack there too.
Confirm the connection
After authorization, open the Sanka integrations page and check that Slack is connected. If the Slack workspace name is visible, the connection is complete. For a first test, send a DM to the Sanka app in Slack or mention Sanka in a channel that your team wants to use. Then check the relevant Sanka inbox for the message.
Check inbox behavior
Slack messages appear in different inboxes depending on the context.
Private inbox: direct messages and user-specific Slack activity that only the matched Sanka user should see
Workspace inbox: Slack channel activity that your team has chosen to make visible to the workspace
Start by confirming private inbox behavior with a small test message. Before using public channels, decide which Slack channels are appropriate for workspace-wide visibility.
Troubleshooting
If Slack does not connect or messages do not appear, check that:
You selected the correct Slack workspace during authorization
Slack allows the Sanka app to be installed
You started the connection from the correct Sanka workspace
Sanka user emails match the corresponding Slack user emails
You sent a Slack DM to the Sanka app or mentioned Sanka in an intended channel
Some Slack workspaces require admin approval before an app can be installed. If the setup still does not complete, ask your Slack admin to confirm the app approval status.
